Instructions

In a small bowl, use a fork to mash together 1/4 cup salted butter (softened), 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 dash hot sauce until well combined.

Spread a thin, even layer of the garlic butter mixture on one side of each of 4 slices sandwich bread, making sure to spread it all the way to the edges.

Place 2 slices of cheddar cheese on the unbuttered side of 2 slices of bread. Top with the remaining bread slices with the buttered sides facing out.

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.

Place the sandwiches into the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until the bottoms are golden brown.

Flip and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted. Reduce the heat as needed if the bread is browning too quickly.

Remove from the skillet and let rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.
